Join the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington Shakespeare Company, and The George Washington University, for the second annual festival of staged readings highlighting plays and poetry by historic and contemporary women. Featuring the talents of area directors and actors, the 2009-2010 festival explores dramatic works by women of the English stage from the late-seventeenth and early-eighteenth centuries, as well as an evening of poetry and dance. The third reading in the 2009-2010 festival presents Ariadne's She Ventures He Wins (1695), a fanciful comedy that tests love's limits. It features a woman who disguises herself as a man to win the affection of the one she loves. But do her tricks go too far? Directed by Jessica Ann Drizd. Tickets are pay-what-you-can at the door or $10 if purchased in advance. Purchase advanced tickets at www.boxofficetickets.com/wsc or 1-800-494-TIXS (8497).
